Optimized with maximum space

We at Reform and Reflex Arkitekter have designed our new workplace together! We have played the role of architect, interior designer, lighting designer, project manager and developer.
By working seamlessly with architecture, interior design, lighting design and reuse in one, we have been able to achieve a lot with limited resources.
The project shows that architecture and sustainable design can be created with small means, if you work with care, clear priorities and commitment.

Welcome to us and a functional and identity-creating workplace that employees, customers and guests want to come to and stay in.

New premises for future needs.

We ourselves have completed the journey that many of our customers are facing: leaving large areas for an optimized and moderate premises, tailored to our way of working. From over 1,100 square meters, we have reduced the area to 430 square meters - without compromising on quality or function.
Our focus has been to find the right location and the right spatial conditions. The choice fell on Slussen, a place with a pulse, proximity to our customers and a strong spatial character.

The prerequisite for the success of such a transition is a careful analysis of the needs of the business. We work with these issues on a daily basis for our clients, and have applied the same methodology to ourselves.

The result is a workplace that is relevant, functional and identity-building.

Architectural qualities.

The starting point has been to enhance and highlight the inherent qualities of the space. The building, a former bakery, houses spacious areas and high windows that were once created to accommodate industrial machinery and capture daylight from several directions. This generous volume is now the heart of our business - both functionally and visually.

In our premises, every square meter is used and thought out, we have no corridors or dead spaces.

We have removed layers of old finishes and installations and brought out much of the original in the form of, for example, clean concrete surfaces, tiled wall surfaces and wooden floors.

The fixed additions made are executed with great care. The materials are chosen for their durability, tactile quality and long-term resilience.

The lighting design is carefully balanced: natural daylight flooding in from studio windows combined with "right light in the right place", i.e. lighting that does not dazzle or form a casual "light carpet" that often characterizes office environments.

An office that attracts people.

Our goal was to create a workplace that acts as a magnet - for our employees, our customers and our partners. To achieve this, a project group worked on function and design in close dialog with the entire office. Workshops and open discussions gave everyone the opportunity to contribute, which has anchored the project and strengthened the sense of participation.
The result is a place that is both a work tool, living room and creative studio.

The result is that everyone wants to be there every day.

Sustainability & Material selection.

The design is based on the history of the premises and is complemented by new layers that add function and warmth. The wooden floors have been preserved and reused, giving a natural base tone to the material palette. The colors are warm and enveloping, deliberately free of white walls and ceilings. The acoustic ceiling in concrete gray wood wool adds both damping and materiality in combination with concrete surfaces and visible installations.

Recycling and resource efficiency have been the guiding principles. Our material samples have been integrated into the concept and the interior: the meeting rooms have thematic walls in materials such as brick, wood, tiles and metal.

The only new piece of furniture is a modular pine shelving system, designed to be dismantled and reused in different forms. Other furniture is recycled.

Overall responsibility.

We designed our own workplace and took on the role of project manager and developer. By bringing together architecture, recycling, construction, interior design and relocation in a holistic approach, we have been able to achieve a lot with limited resources. The project shows that strong architecture and sustainable design can be created with small means, if you work with care, clear priorities and wholehearted commitment.
